The Sculpture Garden at MOMA
The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden at MOMA is a great place to spend a few hours on a sunny day in midtown New York.
In 2004, architect Taniguchi who redesigned the museum reintroduced the Sculpture Garden as the heart of the Museum by preserving the original 1953 design. The result is very successful: it is a lovely area surrounded by outdoor sculptures from Picasso, Giacometti, Chagall, Maillol ...and a good place to take a break and to have drinks or ice creams.
Here are a few sculptures on display.
Also, as part of "Figure in the Garden", one can currently see Figurengruppe , a work by German artist Katharina Fritsch. It features nine bold colour life-size sculptures including St. Michael, a Madonna, a giant and a snake.
I had an amazing lunch at The Modern. http://themodernnyc.com/#/restaurant.
