Our Picks: 5 London Shows

This is our selection of five concerts and other shows (theatre, dance) that we have booked this week in London. A great way to start our cultural year. Hope to see you there!  

1.The Master Builder at the Old Vic

A new version of this key Ibsen's play by David Hare with Ralph Fiennes as Halvard Solness, the title character. January 23 to  March 19.

Ibsen's plays are regularly performed in various London theatres and this new version of one of Ibsen's most autobiographical works is highly anticipated.

2. Maxim Vengerov in recital at the Barbican

We try not to miss any of Vengerov's concerts in London. The programme of this exceptional violin recital features Shostakovich’s late Sonata and works from  Paganini, Ysaye and Ernst. On 24 February 2016.

3. Until the Lions by Akram Khan at the Roundhouse

A world premiere by one of the most exciting choreographers of our time, based on the epic Mahabharata combining Indian classical dance form kathak with contemporary dance. This show will be performed in the iconic Roundhouse in Camden.

4. Daniil Trifonov Residency at Wigmore Hall 

We have discovered this young Russian pianist in 2012 and are thrilled to learn that he will be performing again this year at Wigmore Hall  in February and in June. We have picked the first concert on the 12th of February as we are also a big fan of violonist Gidon Kremer who rarely performs in London. Amongst the programme's pieces, we are particularly looking forward to  Rachmaninov’s Trio élégiaque No. 2 .

5. Idan Raichel at the Barbican

On 23 February, Israeli musician Idan Raichel will be joined by several of his guests  to perform music from his new album, At the Edge of the Beginning. We have attended his last concert in London in a small venue and were completely seduced by the man, his project and his music.
