The Dock Kitchen

Last week-end we had lunch at The Dock Kitchen, the restaurant run by young chef Stevie Parle who trained at the iconic River Cafe.

The restaurant is located in a fun and bright building by the canal near Ladbroke Grove and is attached to the studio of designer Tom Dixon. Tom Dixon is the designer who recently created the restaurant at the Royal Academy of Arts http://www.tomdixon.net/projects. There is a great shop and gallery on the lower level of the restaurant.

Stevie Parle was named young chef of the year by the Observer Food Monthly Magazine. Reviews of the Dock Kitchen have been various. As a whole, our lunch experience was great. The design of the restaurant with access on the terrace is successful and the atmosphere was very pleasant. My starter, roast violetta aubergine with fresh herbs and labneh was fresh and light. My cod with tomato and spinach curry was tasty but slightly uncooked. The dessert, a poached pear in white wine, was simple and perfectly balanced. I found the ingredients fresh and of good quality. The young hostess at the reception was busy preparing the peas which already gives a good feeling when you open the door…

The Dock Kitchen is a great place to stop for a lunch on the way back from Portobello market.
